What is Penile Curvature?

Penile curvature is when an erect penis is not straight but curves up or down, to the right or to the left. Penile curvatures may be congenital or may occur in later ages due to Peyronie's disease.

Congenital Penile Curvature: Congenital penile curvature is a disease that can be seen in 1% of the population, but is estimated to exist at a rate of 4-6% in reality. Penile curvature requires surgery if it causes two conditions in the patient. The first is the difficulty of sexual intercourse, the second is psychological problems such as aesthetic anxiety and lack of self-confidence.

Penile curvature due to Peyronie's disease: Penile curvature due to Peyronie's disease is encountered most frequently in advancing ages. It develops due to calcification that occurs between the blood vessel that provides hardening and the outer sheath. In Peyronie's disease, there is pain first and then deformity over time.

What is Penile Curvature Surgery?

Surgical applications are fundamental in the treatment of congenital penile curvature and penile curvature caused by advanced Peyronie's disease.

In the treatment of surgical penile curvature, which is simply done using the Plication Technique, the curvature is corrected by making a surgical incision and suture (plication suture) for the application of traction force on the opposite side of the curvature on the penis. In advanced cases, the graft (patch) obtained from the leg veins or the ready graft (patches) are integrated into the plaque areas formed in the penis and the procedure is performed. In the technique performed with the graft, besides the correction of the curvature, an elongation in the penis is also obtained.

There is no other application other than these two procedures in the treatment of penile curvature. Filling materials, exercises, correction tools, let alone giving the desired result, may impair the body's health and should never be used.
